About Charonda
Williams claimed the 2012 Diamond League series win in the 200m in what she called the most consistent season of her career. Williams was a latecomer to the sport of track and field as she first ran competitively the summer after she graduated high school. She went on to compete at Laney College in Oakland before earning a scholarship to Arizona State University where she developed into one of the top collegiate sprinters in the nation. Williams made the 2009 World Championship team after her 4th place finish at USA Outdoors, as Allyson Felix had the automatic bye at the reigning world champion. Four years later, it was Williams who enjoyed the automatic bye as the Diamond League champion. Williams overcame a difficult childhood being raised by her grandmother and wants to give back to youth as a counselor once her track and field career is over.
