USATF, SVSP to keep Team USA athletes healthy in World Outdoors lead-in

7/6/2015

INDIANAPOLIS – USA Track & Field (USATF) and its partner, St.Vincent Sports Performance (SVSP), launched a new program this week to keep U.S. athletes healthy in the month leading up to the 2015 IAAF World Championships in Beijing.

One doctor and two athletic trainers from SVSP will be on hand at each stop of the IAAF Diamond League during the month of July. The schedule includes Paris Saturday, July 4, and continues with Lausanne, Switzerland, July 9, Monaco July 17, London July 24 and 25, and Stockholm July 30, the final Diamond League meet before the World Championships August 22-30.

SVSP will provide out-of-competition services to American athletes at each location, with athletes who qualified for Team USA at last month’s USATF Outdoor Championships the key priority. Working with USATF High Performance staff, the SVSP team will ensure that athletes receive preventative and therapeutic treatment to keep them healthy in the lead-up to Beijing.

“We are very pleased to be able to provide this service to our athletes, thanks to our partnership with St.Vincent Sports Performance,” USATF CEO Max Siegel said. “Keeping our team healthy before Beijing will be critical to our performance at the World Championships.”

“St.Vincent Sports Performance is dedicated to helping athletes perform at their best,” SVSP Executive Director Ralph Reiff said. “While traveling in Europe, athletes too often don’t have access to the kind of care they get at home. We are excited to be able to provide these services in July and look forward to the team’s performance in China.”

More than 125 athletes are expected to compete for Team USA at the World Outdoor Championships, with USATF’s final roster being submitted in August.
