USATF Hall of Fame Induction Moves to NYC for “Black Tie and Sneakers” Gala

6/9/2015

INDIANAPOLIS -- Bright lights and big stars are set to shine boldly as the 2015 USATF Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony makes the move to New York City this fall, USA Track & Field announced June 9.

With its “Black Tie and Sneakers Gala” on October 29, 2015 at the 168th Street Armory, USATF will bring together some of the most iconic athletes in our country’s history, celebrities from sports & entertainment, fans and current stars. Held at the home of the Hall of Fame within the iconic walls of the Armory on New York City’s Upper West side, the multimedia event will pay homage to athletes past and present. Award presenters will include national celebrities and Hall of Fame athletes in a black tie, red-carpet event.

“USATF’s athletes and the sport's icons are some of the most recognizable athletes in the world,” said USATF CEO Max Siegel. “An event of this magnitude deserves the backdrop of New York City, where sport, culture, media and entertainment meet. We are looking forward to a sensational evening.”

The October 29 event will include the induction of the Hall of Fame Class of 2015 as well as awards honoring contributors to the sport and current stars. Proceeds from the Black Tie & Sneakers Gala go to the USATF Elite Athlete Mentorship Program. A new USATF initiative, the Mentorship Program connects USATF elite athletes with business executives, former athletes and career coaches to prepare them for success after their athletic careers conclude.

Home to the National Track & Field Hall of Fame, the Armory houses decades of track and field history. Memorabilia from countless athletes and Olympic Games don the 15,000-square foot space and includes the Hall Gallery, a 40-foot-long etched glass Wall of Fame that immortalizes the Inductees.

The 2015 USATF Hall of Fame Class will be announced in September.
