USATF hosts 1,100 IPS students for RunJumpThrow Experience on Monument Circle

INDIANAPOLIS - USA Track & Field will host more than 1,100 Indianapolis Public Schools students to a RunJumpThrow takeover of Monument Circle on Friday, Sept. 25 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., USATF announced Monday.
 
Elementary and middle school aged students from 19 IPS schools will be on the circle to participate in USATF’s flagship youth activity program, RunJumpThrow (RJT).
 
“As an active part of the Indianapolis sports community, USATF is proud to work with IPS to host this event,” said USATF CEO and Northwest High School graduate Max Siegel. “Providing a fun and healthy day for children is something we hope will extend into their entire school year.”
 
As part of the day, volunteers and members of the community will lead the children through a series of stations for a fun chance to learn and practice the foundational skills of sports. Among the stations arranged around Monument Circle will activities such as balancing, stretching, short races and mini hurdles, along with the challenges of sit-ups, push-ups and jumping activities.
 
USATF’s RJT takeover of Monument Circle is the organization’s first stand-alone RJT Experience in USATF’s hometown. USATF has hosted RJT Experiences both domestically and internationally, reaching as far as Narita, Japan, and connecting with more than 150,000 kids nationwide.
 
Water and a healthy lunch are provided by SUBWAY® Restaurants of Central Indiana.
